Heat transfer solutions for flue gas utilization
Despite the shift towards renewables, the vast majority of global energy demand is still met through combustion processes. Their efficiency and resulting primary energy consumption greatly depends on the amount of useful energy and resources such as water that are recovered from flue gas. In order to fully utilize flue gas, heat needs to be extracted below the condensation point of water. As a byproduct, highly corrosive acids form too, leading to extreme demands on heat transfer equipment used in flue gas paths.
Technoform has developed an optimal solution to this challenge. Our heat transfer materials are highly resistant to dew point corrosion while offering excellent mechanical properties and cleanability. Their superior heat conductivity minimizes required heat transfer area especially compared to existing (fluor-)polymer solutions.
Depending on your needs, we can supply either customized profiles and connection technology for seamless integration into existing designs or entire heat exchangers together with our global network of partners.
Reference: Plastic replaces corrosion-resistant metal
We helped W. L. Gore & Associates to replace all their corrosion-resistant metal with engineered plastic in the framing system of the GORE mercury filter. This example illustrates the performance of plastic, showing that it could also be used in numerous other applications and industries.
